Hey everybody, pay attention. Something really big and really important just happened.
Yesterday at DevLearn, ADL and AICC announced a collaboration that will merge ADL’s xAPI efforts with the AICC’s CMI 5 efforts. AICC will be adopting the Experience API as the foundational technology to fulfill their constituents’ requirements for CMI 5.
In other words, instead of having two competing standards with different functionality, we will have one standard with an aviation specific profile.
This is huge. It is huge for the standards community, who can focus all our efforts in one place. It is huge for vendors, who will only have to implement one new standard. It is huge for the community, who can expect a bumper crop of new an innovative products that all work together.
It is also a model for collaboration and harmony in a world that too often prioritizes politics and individual agendas ahead of doing what is best fo the community.
I congratulate ADL and AICC on their partnership and look forward to good things to come.
